The Day I Got Hold Of Two Top Notch Canon 7d And 60D Cameras
If I had to pay money for a new DSLR nowadays it would be the Canon EOS 60D.
I had the opportunity to amuse myself with both a 60D and a 7D recently and they got my heart racing.
The difference between a DSLR and compact and other snappers is so huge they should not all be called ‘cameras’. OK. I do own a sound compact, but not for trying to take prize photographs. I was comparing these two beauties with other DSLR’s If I did not have to carry them on long walks, I would prefer these heavier and larger models over my two Rebels any day. They just felt like more serious toys. I loved the vari-angle LCD of the 6D as well as the new HD movie features. I imagined being a budding film producer. The 5FPS of the 7D is an experience one has to have to appreciate the power of the Dual DIGIC IV processor.
Afterwards I examined my photos critically. They were not creative master pieces but there was enough to show just why one would want such a high FPS…. to capture subtle differences or action series shots… and then have more choice. The 18 MP sensors of both cameras showed their worth in fine detail, especially in landscape shots.
There are a lot of ‘experts’ who will tell you that Full Frame gives you more detail or less noise than APS-C. I think that is rubbish. The definition and noise differences can equally come from lenses, settings, photographer and lighting conditions.
I would like to find someone who can do it the other way round. Look at a good photograph and tell me whether it was taken with an APS-C or Full Frame DSLR.
Between the Canon 60D vs 7D, the 60D seems to have better value for money. It is more up to date with the movie function and the vari-angle LCD is a very handy feature. Given also that it is approximately 30% less expensive, it is a very attractive buy.
These APS-C Cameras are as good as the professional DSLR’s any day and I would love to have one. But alas, for the moment I can just write about the Canon 60D vs 7D, and that has to satisfy my interest for the time being.
